01When to call us

Slow queries, missed patches, untested backups

Most Oracle problems start quietly. These are the four we hear about most often.

Slow at peak times

Month-end closing, order entry or reports slow down when everyone is working. Users wait and blame the application.

Backups nobody has restored

Backups run every night, but no one has tried a full restore. You find out if they work on the worst possible day.

An upgrade that keeps slipping

The database is on an old release, patches are behind and every quarter the upgrade moves to the next one.

No one really owns it

The DBA left, the software vendor only covers the application and your IT team has other priorities.

02What we do

03What we cover

Oracle database work, item by item

Take everything or only the part you need. The scope is written down and agreed before we start.

Day-to-day administration

The routine work that keeps a database healthy.

  • Space, tablespaces and growth
  • Users, roles and scheduled jobs
  • Alert log and error checks

Performance tuning

We find where the time goes, then fix the cause.

  • AWR and ASH analysis
  • SQL tuning, indexes and statistics
  • Memory, I/O and configuration

Upgrades and patching

Current releases, without surprises.

  • Quarterly release updates
  • Upgrades to supported releases
  • Tested on a copy, with a rollback plan

Migrations, including to the cloud

Move to new hardware, a new OS or the cloud.

  • Oracle Cloud (OCI), AWS or Azure
  • Data Pump, RMAN or Data Guard methods
  • A rehearsal and planned downtime

Backup and recovery with RMAN

Backups you can count on, because they are tested.

  • Backup policy and retention
  • Regular restore tests on a clone
  • A written recovery procedure

High availability: Data Guard and RAC

Less downtime when a server or a site fails.

  • Standby databases with Data Guard
  • Switchover and failover drills
  • Real Application Clusters (RAC)

Database security

Fewer ways in, and a record of who did what.

  • Accounts, privileges and password rules
  • Auditing of sensitive actions
  • Encryption where your license allows

Monitoring

We see problems before your users do.

05How we work

From the first look to a database that stays healthy

Clear steps, written down. Nothing changes in production without your approval.

  1. Look at the real system

We start with read-only access and a short call. We check versions, backups, performance and security.

    Read-only first
  2. A written plan

Priorities, risks, maintenance windows and how to roll back. You approve it before anything changes.

    Approved by you
  3. Careful changes

Tested on a copy where possible, applied in agreed windows, with backups checked before we start.

    Backups checked first
  4. Report and keep watch

A plain-language report of what changed. Then monitoring and regular care, if you want it.

    Monthly report

06Questions

Oracle DBA questions we often get

Do you work remotely?

Yes, most of the work is remote, over a secure connection that you control and can switch off at any time. If a project needs someone on site, we agree on it in advance.

Which Oracle versions do you support?

We work on currently supported releases such as Oracle Database 19c and the newer 23ai and 26ai, and we help companies move off older ones like 11g and 12c, which no longer get regular patches.

Can you work with our IT team and our software vendor?

Yes. We often work next to an in-house IT team and the vendor of the application that uses the database. We agree who does what, so nothing falls between the cracks.

Do you sell Oracle licenses?

No. We don’t resell licenses. We tell you when a feature or a change could affect licensing, so you can check with Oracle or your reseller before you decide.

Can you move our database to the cloud?

Yes. We plan and run migrations to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, AWS or Azure, or to new servers in your data center. We rehearse the move first and agree on the downtime with you.

What do we receive at the end?

A written report of what we found and what we changed, and the documentation of your setup: configuration, backup and recovery steps, runbooks. In English or Italian.

Need a second pair of eyes on your Oracle databases?

Tell us which versions you run and what worries you most. We reply by email with a first opinion and the next steps.
